The Past

You asked me not to speak my mind
Why shouldn't I when you lied
They say what goes does come around
Now it's happened I'll make a sound

The stars are shining up above,
Do you see the one you spoke to me of?
I guess it doesn't shine so bright
There are a billion stars out tonight

No love is not a game you see
I asked you not to play with me
My love grew stronger every day
And while it did you went away

The words you wrote would make me smile
I realise now that is your style
Words so sweet they make you swoon
I guess I believed it oh too soon

I know you're young but still I wanted
Everything that you once offered
The words so tender that you wrote
Maybe it was just a joke
Remember that little note
And I quote
"I close my eyes and think about us,
I can't wait to feel your tender touch,
dreams of your arms around me,
make it so clear to see,
how I love thee. *** ***** With Love"

The love, the life, the together
It was supposed to be forever
These were your words not mine
Forever must be a short poetic time

It's surprising how words can make
and break and tear apart
A somewhat sore and lonely heart

My heart died slowly while I read
Someone else was sleeping in your head
I see now why I suddenly did "obsess"
There's someone else for you to possess

Riddles and rhymes are what you play
I'm so sorry I'm not that way
I know love comes and so love leaves
Try not to use the word with such ease

Plans were made and changed for you
Cost a pretty penny too
Thought I could weather any storm
With you as my shelter to keep me warm

You called me your QUEEN until the end
You told me still to call you friend
Friends don't lie and cheat and lie
I'd rather you had told me why

Yesterday I asked
If there was someone else
You said 'how can that be
When I still have feelings for thee?'

As I type I cry
I wonder why
Why you had to lie
A part of me does die.
And I hope you see
One day you'll realise what you meant to me

All I can say now is good luck, I'll depart
I only hope the words are worth my heart
