ENGLAND

D o v e r
Dover Castle

My first point of interest on my European trip was Canterbury Cathedral. After that I wanted to take the ferry to France, and then the train to Paris, so decided to go through the port of Dover. Dover Castle was situated just above the white cliffs, seen in the distance in the picture.

I noted in my journal, May 11: "...finally got some film in my camera", and this was my first photograph of the trip.

The Old Dairy

England was also the last country I visited during that trip. I was invited to stay in a home in Box, situated just outside Bath. The home is still named "The Old Dairy".

The photograph below was taken on one of the main streets, and the local pub is the central building. Without the road signs, telephone pole and sunshade on the picnic table it looks centuries old.
