CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY COOKIES
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
2 tbs milk
2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup maraschino cherries
18 marshmallows

                            Preheat oven to 350 degrees(180 c).  Sift together flour, baking soda
                             and salt and set aside.  Cream shortening and gradually add 2/3 cup
                            brown sugar.  Blend in 1 unbeaten egg.  Beat well.  Stir in half of the
                            flour mixture.  Add 1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice and 2 tbs milk.
                            Stir in the remaining dry ingredients and mix well.  Blend in 2 squares
                            of melted chocolate and maraschino cherries.  Drop by rounded
                            spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 12-15 minutes.  Cut
                            marshmallows in half and place cut side down on hot cookies.

PEANUTBUTTER CUP COOKIES
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup smooth peanutbutter
2 eggs
1/3 cup baking cocoa
2  1/3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup peanutbutter chips
10 peanutbutter cups, cut into 8 pieces each
