Entry for March 30, 2008

Hi there!
Hopefully, this will be a blog of our crossing on the QE2 from New York City (Manhattan) to Southampton England, a trip on the Eurostar (under the chunnel) to Paris for three days, back up to Southamton, and the return crossing on the QM2 from Southampton back to New York City (Brooklyn)
With less than two weeks to go, I am trying my best to get my (self) in gear and get our plans more firmed up. Of course, we have the cruise all lined up, but a sudden change of embarkation points from Brooklyn to Manhattan does present the problem of where to park the car, since we will be returning to the Brooklyn Cruise terminal. Our dear friend Maria (with whom we have shared two previous cruises, and wish she could be with us on this one) has offered to pick us up in Brooklyn after we park there and take us (and our luggage) to the Manahattan cruise terminal. Hmmm, I wonder if she owns a U-Haul!
We've finally decided on a hotel to spend the night before our return trip in Southampton. It will be the Ibis, which is near the bus station and the West Quay shopping center (for any last minute purchases.) It's not too expensive, and I've signed us up for unlimited internet for the night so , hopefully, I can update this blog!
Now. If I can just figure out the logistics of getting off the ship, doing something with some of our luggage, then getting to St Pancras station in London to catch the Eurostar high speed train to Paris, a place to stay in Paris, and how to get back to Southampton. So many choices. Time, money and luggage storage are the three limiters here.
Well, time to get to work on all of the above!
