Thailand

My view of Thailand

I have been lucky enough to visit Thailand four times and am planning another visit this Christmas. What keeps me going back to the country? Take a look at this and maybe you will get an idea of what some of the attraction is. These huts are very EXPENSIVE. That is if you call $8.00 an night expensive!

The people of Thailand are some of the friendliest people in the world. There is a reason the country is called the "Land of Smiles". Of course the larger citties like Bangkok are wall to wall people and the pace is frantic, just jump on a bus and head into the real Thailand which you can reach for about a dollar and a half-hour of your time. There you will find real Thai people, their outgoing families, their unusual collections of dogs - chickens- pigs- water buffalo, and a guaranteed invitation into their their modest but comfortable homes. You are never a stranger for long in Thailand.

One thing that will remain with you from your visit is the beauty of the beaches.

This sunset picture was taken at Phuket Island. We stayed at a great hotel across the street from this beach. Our room had a beautiful ocean and pool side view, color cable television, refrigerator, sitting area, lani, and was tastefully furnished. The price was $35 (US) a night. Not bad!

Thailand offers gourmet food at McDonalds prices. ( yes, Thailand has allowed the McDonalds chain to pollute it's wonderful places) It doesn't matter where you go in the country, one thing always remains constant. That is wonderful food for very little capital outlay. This live lobster was the equivalent of $20 (US). I have bought a heaping plate of "super-jumbo" grilled shrimp with all the trimmings for as little as $4 (US). It doesn't matter if you eat at the vendor carts on the street, or at the luxurious hotels, you will recieve a big meal for your dollar!
