Sitting here at the Volvo Car Corporation in Sweden showing another Australian how to surf the internet and we happened on your page. I had to write a note as I taught at Maffra High from 1970 to 1973 and you said that you were born there.

Sandra - thanks for your message - I passed your comments by snail-mail onto Maffra High, so maybe you will even hear back from a few who know you.

When I visited Maffra for the first time late June I only visited the hospital, where I was born, and the library - pleased to find my dad mentioned in 'Back to Briagalong' from when he had the general store.

I liked your hotel review page! The writing is very atmospheric, made me feel that it would be a friendly and homey place to stay. Only the background color started to get to my eyes, but at the moment I am very tired, so it coiuld be that!!

I love to travel and try to go somewhere OS every year. Of course money and children sometimes interrupt these plans. The last place I visited was Bali - a friend and I took a netball team (U16s) to play in a comp there. We won our division! It was my sixth visit there, I always enjoy it. My favourite destination would have to be London though. I would love to go to Jordan and Turkey. Cheers to all lovers of travel, travellers are better people for their experiences.

We visited Melbourne and the Dandenongs Dec 1996/Jan 1997. Other places where we have stayed and you have stayed include:
Castaway Gateway Nadi, Sheraton Heathrow, Auckland Travelodge (assuming that's the one in the City - our favourite hotel in all the world), Outrigger Reef Honolulu, Manica Mutare.
Other stuff: saw U2 in 1981 and 1984, and in 1991 I was offered $75 for a 1984 U2 tour t-shirt I was wearing by a guy working in Grace Bros. I didn't take it - what a fool I was!
Well, that's enough for now. I shall return!
