The Streets

	Traveling in the Dominican Republic as a tourist normally means traveling by car or public bus.When you rent a car and drive through the country, you will find a lot of different highways, streets, roads, tracks, and paths. Sometimes it might happen that the local people tell you there is a street when there is actually not more than a track in the sand. Then you better watch your driving because coconuts hidden in the sand can severely damage your car.
	Probably the biggest adventure for a european or american is the carretera duarte, the main north-south connection, leading from Santo Domingo to Santiago de los Caballeres.
