The Castle of Vezio, on the promontory of Varenna, is visible from every corner of the Lake of Como and can easily be reached from Varenna, either on foot or by car. If you come from Bellagio, Menaggio, Tremezzo, or Cadenabbia, you can take advantage of the comfortable ferry-boats of the "Navigazione Lago di Como" line, that allow you to enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake and its beautiful shores.
The Castle, dating back to the 14th century and recently restored, is visited by thousands of tourists every year, attracted by the enchanting legend of the Longobard Queen Theodolinda, who dwelled for some time in the Castle, and by the many artistic or cultural exhibitions that take place within its walls.The charm of the site, with its commanding view of the town of Varenna below, makes it a good idea to come here for a good alfresco meal, under the shades of centuries old olive trees.
We are therefore honored to invite you to visit the Castle of Vezio and its undergound passages, which have just been opened to guided tours to help you discover the old wine presses.
