Day 3

(Sunday 6/10/01)

Sunday morning we woke up at a more reasonable time, 9:00 am.
As good as the buffet was yesterday morning at Paris one of
our goals for this trip was to try as many of the newer more
quality type buffets that have opened in the last few years.
Since Bellagio is so close we left Caesars Palace and headed
in that direction.

What can I say, Bellagio still looks wonderful, even after
the change of ownership. This place is by far the class of
the Strip. We walked thru the casino and soon found the buffet
entrance. Surprisingly no line at 10:00. It must have just
been good timing on our part because by the time we left a huge
line had formed. I don't remember the price but it was
comparable to the Paris buffet, around $25 for two. All of the
typical breakfast foods were there including some lunch items.
Peeled shrimp and a carving station to name a few. Service was
excellent and the champagne flowed freely.

After we finished eating we headed to the casino to try our
luck. First stop was the slot club desk to sign up and get
our cards. Almost directly in front of the slot club desk was
a bank of MegaBucks machines. Among those machines were a
couple of 5X slots. Considering the fun we had yesterday on
MegaBucks at Paris and the luck Tootsie had on the 5X machine
at Binions picking a place to sit down was easy. I put a $100
in the bill acceptor and started playing. Pretty soon all I
had left was 2 credits. Everyone knows never play a
progressive slot machine with anything less than full coin in.
So I reached in my pocket and inserted one more dollar. The
first symbol to pop up was the 5X, then a triple bar. The third
reel stopped on another triple bar, good for $450. Not bad, so
I figured I'd play off the $50 then cash out. A few pulls and
it hit again, this time 5X, Red Seven and a different Seven
good for $500. Now I had over $900 in credits. So I kept
playing intending to cash out at $900. After a couple of
smaller hits the first reel stopped again on the 5X symbol, the
second reel on Double Bar, and the third reel stopped on another
5X symbol. I had just hit for $1500 ! The machine locked up

and started playing music, You're In The Money, I think. Soon
the slot attendants showed up, I handed over my ID and SS card
and they brought me back another W2G form as well as 15 crisp
new $100 bills. They reset the machine and asked me to play
off the winner. I still had over $900 in credits on the
machine so as soon as I played them down I cashed out at $900.
Since this slot only pays up to 400 coins another hand pay came
my way. The same slot attendants came back and we did it all
over again, minus the W2G form.

I didn't want to press my luck on slots so with some new found
money I looked for a favorable Video Poker machine to hopefully
ride this wave of good luck. I did find a 9/6 JOB and promptly
lost $300. So back to Caesars.

As is customary in our household Tootsie went back to the room
for her afternoon nap. I stayed in the casino and won back the
$300 on VP that I had lost at Bellagio earlier. Next I tried
Let-It-Ride. On the first hand I played, the guy next to me
was dealt three 9s. The dealers first card was the other 9.
He had $15 on the three betting circles and had played the $1
bonus. I think each of his three $15 bets paid $750 and the
bonus paid $500. Not too shabby. I left the table an hour
later up $50. Then dropped $200 on the Million Dollar Babies
before going back to the room.

Our plans for the evening were to go over to Rio to see the
Scintas. Out front a cab awaited and soon we were walking thru
the casino headed for the box office. Seems to me when the
Scintas opened at Rio a few months ago the price for one ticket
was $25. Our two tickets cost $75 and change so I'm not sure
if they've had an increase already or, the great seats we had
in the middle of the show room next to the center stage podium
are more expensive. Doesn't really matter tho, the show was
Fantastic and well worth the price. If you like the live shows
in Las Vegas but are put off by the high prices of most of
them, better hurry to see the Scintas. It won't be long before
the price for their show skyrockets too.

After the show we walked outside to catch the shuttle to
Harrah's. Many others had the same idea we did and a large
line had formed. Counting the people in line told me that we
would not get in the next bus or probably the one after that
so we walked to the Gold Coast and caught their shuttle to
Barbary Coast. Not as long a wait and closer to CP.

Back at Caesars we walked by the new Shadows Bar and the
dancers were in full swing. I stopped and watched for a while
and came to the conclusion that the dancers behind the screen
are totally nude. Certain "points" (.)(.) are quite obvious
and another tends to be on the "fuzzy" side, If you know what
I mean :)

We spent a little more time in the casino before calling it a
night.

That was Day 3 of the 5X MegaBuffet Trip Report. By now
you should see a pattern developing as to why the name.
Day 4 will continue the theme.
