From the time you get off the airplane at McCarren until you get back on to go home, you will encounter people with their hand out. My Tipping Guidelines will show whats customary when it comes to who to tip, when to tip, and how much to tip. Remember, tipping is not mandatory and should only be used as a reward for good service. However, there are times when this is not always the case............
Porters and Redcaps $1 per bag

Cab Drivers If the fair is over $8 - Tip the change and $2 If the fair is under $8 - Tip the change and $1 If he handles your bags throw in another $1 If the ride is a short one with a small fair or the hack goes above and beyond the call of duty, add a couple more bucks. If he takes you through the "tunnel" - No Tip
*************************************************************
Valet Parking Attendants $2 - If the service is fast and efficient $1 - If the service is just OK The question here is when do you tip ? Normally you tip when you retrieve the car. Some people tip when the car is dropped off. My theory goes like this: I only tip when I pickup the car. Most valet attendants pool their tips during the shift so all tips will be devided equally. Plus, they will use your car as a form of transportation to the valet lot to retrieve someone elses car, if it wasn't for me, they'd have to walk, so no tip when the car is dropped off. On occasion you may encounter a "Valet Parking Full" sign when you pull into the valet line. A $5 tip to the parking attendant will usually "free" up a spot for your car.

Bellhops The guy at the hotel that gets your bags out of the car, puts them on a cart, and carries them to your room. $5 or $1 per bag. Only tip when your bags are delivered to your room. Or, when you're leaving, only tip when you're bags are put in the car. Again, most bellhops pool their tips so don't worry if someone different shows up at the room.

Hotel Maids It is customary to tip the room maid $1-$2 per day at the end of your stay. This is one that I differ on. I do not tip the room maid unless I make a special request like: Requesting more blankets, or towels, or pillows, etc.

Waiters/Waitreses Tipping in Las Vegas restaurants is the same as any other city in the USA. The standard gratuity is 15%. Ofcourse feel free to adjust the amount up or down depending on the service. This applys to gourmet rooms, coffee shops, and room service. Buffets or brunches where you serve yourself is the exception. $1 to $2 for the person that brings your drinks is customary.
*************************************************************
Cocktail Waitresses Those beautiful ladies that bring to you, no matter where you are gambling in a casino, your favorite refreshment. $1 per round will ensure that she comes back on a regular basis. $2 per round for more than two people. The drinks are complimentary when you are gambling so don't stiff the CWs. This amount applies whether you're playing the nickel slots or the $5 slots, blackjack or craps, roulette or playing the ponies.

Dealers Much can be written about tokeing (tipping) dealers so I'll try to keep it brief. I won't stress the amount to toke here but rather the proper way to toke. Also, remember that dealers cannot take the toke directly from your hand into theirs. 1) Blackjack - Two ways a) Place the toke on the felt and slide it pass the betting circle towards the dealer. b) Make a bet for the dealer. Place the toke in the betting circle in front of you're bet. This way the dealer has a chance to double his toke plus you've now got him routing for you to win. 2) Craps - Many ways, here are the most common. a) Place a bet for the dealers. Can be accomplished by placing the toke next to your bet with the instructions "For The Boys". Or by making any bet on the table, just remember to say "For the Boys". b) If you sometimes play the proposition bets include an extra chip for the dealers. For example: Throw out two chips and say "Two way hard eight". This tells the stick man that you want one chip on the hard eight for you and one for the boys. c) Toss your toke on the table and say "For The Boys".

Keno Runners Tip the Keno runners when you have a winner or if they provide fast service. The amount is dependant on the amount of your win and the level of your play.

Showroom Workers Many shows include gratuities into the price of the ticket. If that is the case you're all set. If not then tip the drink servers as described in the Cocktail Waitresses section. If you're looking to tip your way into better seats or a booth you have several options. The first is to not tip at all. Wait for the Captain or the Maitre d' to show you to your seat. If its ok you've saved yourself a few bucks. The second way is to tip the Captain or the Maitre d'. $10 to $20 folded up to show the denomination and ready to place into the palm of his hand as you ask to be seated in a particular area or booth is the proper etiquete to be used in a showroom. Don't fumble around getting the bills out of you're wallet, have it folded and ready to go.
