Below is a continuation of bloodwork results from my Rebetron treatment. Due to a change in Insurance, I was off treatment as of January 8. I had blood work done on the 26th to be sure things weren't going downhill. Unfortunately, they did. My viral load jumped higher than it was to begin with last year. It amazes me that in 18 days, it could go so very high. At least my platelets had a chance to come up a bit.
I
re-started treatment on February 15 so we will see what this time does.
I've got my fingers crossed that this round of treatment will get rid of
this darned virus once and for all. (Or at least for a good long time!)

As I continue on treatment and get bloodwork done, I will add the results here. Bloodwork posted from July 19th through August shows my levels while NOT on any treatment. I will go back to the doctor in September to consider starting Infergen.
NOTE:
We ran a Thyroid
panel on Apr. 19 and my T3 Uptake is low - 22.5. My Iron and cholesterol
have been bouncing all over creation for the past 3 months. My red &
white blood cells are dropping every time I do bloodwork. From what
I have found, this means I am leaning towards hypothyroidisim and hemolytic
anemia. My Chloride is now in the high range - 108 and my bun/creatinine
is low - 7.5. It will be interesting to see what the Dr. thinks of all
this.
My iron level seems to jump around quite a bit for some reason. When it goes up, my cholesterol goes up and visa versa. My chloride level jumped up to 110 the beginning of June but we don't know why that was either, but my bun/creatinine went back down to 11.1 so it is now in the normal range again.
June
22, 1999:
The lab tech
did not run the CBC tests nor did she run the Genotype test. It was ordered
but apparently she can't read. Be SURE to get a copy of all lab requests
so you can get the right tests done. Not only was my insurance charged
for these tests, but now I must re-do them and wait for the results again.
I was tested for Rheumatiod Factor and came back positive. This is an indicator of Autoimmune Hepatitis but I don't know yet if that is the case. My thyroid levels have now gone back to normal. My Chloride level has been high the past few times so I need to find out what is doing that as well.
July
7, 1999:
After 16 months
on treatment with IntronA and Rebetron, the doctor has decided to stop.
I totally agree with this decision. I am obviously not a responder to these
drugs. I am taking a 2 month break and then will start up with Consensus
INFERGEN. During the next 8 weeks I will continue to have blood drawn
to keep track of the liver enzymes and my CBC's. This will give my body
a chance to come back a bit and get my platelets back up to a higher, healthier
range. I will start a new RESULTS page for the INFERGEN program.
This is a 12 month regime, if I respond with an undetected viral load after
12 weeks, so I will be back to sticking myself in September.
Bloodwork
posted below from July 7th through part of September shows
my
levels while NOT on any treatment. I will go back to
the
doctor in September to consider starting Infergen.
