As of May 12, 2001 there are 17,648 people on the Liver Transplant waiting list at UNOS. In 2000, there were 4,934 liver transplants performed. There are 121 Liver Transplant Programs in the United States.

The number of patients removed from the UNOS Transplant List
for Liver Transplant (in 1999) due to death was 1,753.

NOTE:  Type O Blood recipients have the longest wait on the Transplant List.

As of November 27, 2000 there were 4696 liver transplants done in the US
using both Cadaveric and Living Donors.
