Week Ten - May 16-May 22, 1998

May 16~I didn't sleep well again last night. I've been waking up 3 or 4 times a night and very thirsty. My eyes have been real dry lately too. I've noticed my hands are much dryer than they used to be as well. Even with applying lotion all day doesn't seem to work. My headache seems to be worse now than even last week at this time. I find myself taking more darvocet than I used to.
I woke up to a raging headache. The diarrhea seems to have subsided so I can live with just the headache. I have noticed that the fatigue is stronger too. I felt run down and just exhausted all day. We did go puppy hunting. Found one too! An 8 week old black & white cocker spaniel. I named him Sam after my grandpa. He is just adorable-exactly what I needed. He makes me laugh and sits in my lap while I am on the computer. I know that even though I am not responding to the Intron, at least he is here to make me feel better. I think he is going to be the best medicine yet. He will for sure help me to get through whatever is our next course of action with this dragon.

SHOT #30~May 25~For some reason tonights shot didn't hurt a bit. No blood either. We moved down into the middle of my thigh to avoid all the old bruises. They seem to take forever to go away.
I didn't sleep well but thats becoming normal. I seem to wake several times in the night. I have noticed my headache being worse lately and more constant. The diarrhea came back today, but not so bad. I also notice being more and more thirsty, and my mouth is very dry all the time. The Dr suggested glycerin for this but I have yet to find some. My hands are dry as a snake. It seems that my hands dry out much more now, even though I keep lotion on them at all times. My appetite is still wishy-washy. I think if it weren't for Larry being here I wouldn't eat as much as I do, and thats very little. I've lost 5 more pounds. I seem to be much more tired than I used to be-my afternoon nap seems to come earlier and last longer. I'm having a hard time doing these shots now that I know I am not responding. But then, maybe the viral load is going down and the enzymes aren't being affected. I do know my liver has been causing me much more pain than it was even a month ago. My aches and pains seem to be more pronounced and more often.

SHOT #31~May 20~Tonite was terrible. First the stupid needle just bounced without going in. The second attempt went into the vein. Larry jabbed it and injected so fast I didn't have a chance to tell him it stung. Since I lay down, I didn't see that it was in the vein either. It bled quite a bit when he pulled out the needle. Poor Larry felt terrible. He hates doing this as it is, and I may have to bribe him to continue doing it for me. I felt ok for about an hour and a half. Then I started feeling dizzy and the nausea was popping up. I went right to bed, but didn't sleep worth a darn.
I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck. My head has pounded all day. Even the darvocet doesn't seem to be working. I did call the Dr to be sure there wasn't any problems with the Intron going directly into the bloodstream. He did say not to worry, I would feel real bad but that would be it. He wasn't wrong. My whole body hurts today. The brain fog is also really bad today too. I can't seem to remember from one minute to the next. Its actually been bad for the past week or so. I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow though...before the shot tomorrow night!

SHOT #32~May 22~After Wednesday's mess Larry was very careful where he stuck me tonight. The bruise from that one will be here for quite awhile, I think. I had a 'Intron Hangover' all day. Didn't have much of an appetite either. I also had a killer headache. Went off to bed but didn't sleep too well. I woke up several times during the night in a sweat. Must have spiked a low grade fever again.
