Week 4 - April 4-April 10, 1998

Apr. 4~Slept rather late this morning and woke up with a raging headache. I feel pretty good today aside from the headache. I think I'm getting used to the extremely tired feeling. I don't try to fight it so much now and lay down when it seems to overwhelm me. My liver is still giving me pain in the right side today. Still no appetite but I did force myself to eat. It seems like one meal a day is all I can handle. Tomorrow will be a better day. I usually feel almost like normal on Sundays and Mondays.

SHOT #11~Apr. 6~It took 3 tries again to get the needle in. The bruise from last Wednesday is still real bad so I had to cover it up. Larry feels real bad when it takes him more than one try to get it in. And it hurts! I don't tell him that part. I've decided to NOT feel bad tomorrow. Maybe with a more positive outlook, the sides won't be so bad! Can't hurt anyways. Going to bed early since I've been very tired all day today.

Apr. 7~I woke up in a sweat this morning. My head was pounding and my left eye was extremely sore. It hurts to move my eyes back and forth. I believe I have a sinus infection. Called the GP who said to call the Gastro Dr. Everyone said ok, so I am now taking Augentintin for the sinus infection. Other than that, I felt better today than last Tuesday. No real depression today. By the time dinner was cooked I was exhausted though. Too tired to even eat. I'll have a milk shake in a little while. A very good friend, also a hepper, told me this would at least get some nourishment in me and it does taste mighty good. My eyes have been blurry all day again.
I joined Schering's Be In Charge program and am looking forward to getting started with it. The nausea was almost non-existant today so maybe that side effect is going away. My back has been hurting quite a bit lately. I think it may be the muscle pain I've heard about. I can't seem to stand for too long a period as it starts to ache badly. The always cold feeling is still here as well. Just can't seem to get warm at all. My hands are always icy cold. I've also noticed that the reddness in my palms is more pronounced too. Don't know if thats from the Intron or just from the HepC.

SHOT #12~Apr. 8~He did a great job tonight! We decided he should not worry about if he hurts me and just jab away! The last couple of shots have drawn blood but not into the syringe, just after he takes the needle out. This causes bruises, but it could be because my platelets are low too. Not sure so I will ask the Dr about that.

Apr. 9~For some strange reason I felt pretty good today. Not too bad of a headache at all. I did have diarrhea all day again. Haven't had this since the first week so I guess I'm lucky. Not much of an appetite today either, but I did eat lunch! Had more blood drawn this morning too. The results should be in by next Wednesday. I'm hoping there will be a drop in the ALT & AST and a rise in the platelets. I've been kind of feeling like this Intron alone is a waste of time. I'm also getting quite a sore throat today. Don't know if its from the sides or a cold, but its definately a doozy.

SHOT #13~Apr. 10~#13, now there's a number! I started getting a terrible headache even before the shot tonight. Must just be 'shot-stress'! Larry is doing much better at stabbing me. I have started laying on the bed instead of sitting on the counter. It seems to be alot easier for both of us this way. I can't see it and he just pops it in my leg. Hardly a bruise this time and almost no blood!
