Week Eight - May 2-May 8, 1998

May 2~Whew...I had no idea the bed was going to feel so good. I had trouble getting to sleep and didn't have much energy this morning. In fact, I laid in bed for 2 hours after waking up. I just couldn't get up. I had a headache all day and spent most of it on the couch, sleeping off and on. Its funny how you can sleep for 2 hours during the day, and wake up feeling like you haven't slept in many days. Of course, the gloomy, rainy day kind of set the mood for vegging on the couch too!
I didn't eat much all day and wasn't hungry for any dinner either. I felt a bit nauseaous most of the day so was really kind of afraid to eat anything. There is always that thought in my mind that if I don't eat, maybe the diarrhea won't rear its ugly head. I was given a tip for that though. I intend to give it a try and if it works for me, I will be a happy camper. A fellow hepper suggests 2 Rolaids after dinner every night. It seems to be working well for him and I sure don't see where that could hurt.
This will be a busy week for me. My Dr appt is on the 6th and my next bloodwork is the 7th. I have my fingers crossed for some better results this time. With only 4 more weeks till the PCR, I would like to see the ALT & AST drop a bit more.

SHOT #23~May 4/5~It didn't sting!! A friend and fellow hepper told me the trick. Take the syringe with the solution in it out of the fridge so it will be room temp. It sure worked! I guess the cold was causing it to sting. I'm not sure why the drug needs to be cold but the solution doesn't need to be. Mine is in powder form and I just keep the whole box in the fridge. Now I will take out the syringe in the afternoon!
Didn't sleep too well last night. I woke up several times in the middle of the night with a headache and in a sweat. I wound up sleeping on the couch so as not to disturb Larry. I got up feeling very tired and my eyes were so dry. It sometimes feels like I sleep with them wide open. The diarrhea showed up this afternoon with the raging headache right behind it, just like clockwork. My liver has been hurting a bit lately too. I have also noticed more lately that my scalp is very dry and flaky. I didn't eat much for dinner due to the fear of the diarrhea. All in all it was not such a hot day. But then Tuesday never is! Tomorrow is my Dr appt so I have my questions all ready for him. Thursday is my next bloodwork. Got my fingers and toes crossed.

SHOT #24~May 6~Wow...big bruise tonight for some reason. I didn't sleep well at all. Woke up several times during the night in a sweat.
The Dr isn't real optomistic. He feels that my enzymes should already be in the normal range. He has already suggested other treatment options. This was not welcome news. I'm hoping like mad that with tomorrow's bloodwork the numbers will drop way below 100. We are going to continue with the 3rd month and do the PCR in June as planned. Hopefully the viral load will drop.
As for my questions, he thinks the pain in my back and side is caused by Costochondritis. It has something to do with the cartelidge in the breast bone. I'll have to research that one. As for everything else, he says they are side effects. Just something to learn to live with.
I woke up early, in a sweat. I must be running a fever during the night again. This has happened the past 2 shots. I felt very lethargic all day. My headache was real bad and I had to take a Darvocet very early in the morning. It didn't get rid of it, but did ease it for awhile. My back and neck were very achy all day too.
A good sign though is no diarrhea all day. This is a welcome break. I've tried taking Imodium, but that seems too strong for my system. The Nurse from Be In Charge called this afternoon. She suggested Pepto Bismo. A friend had suggested that Rolaids works for him. He takes 2 after dinner. I've been trying that but its not working. I'll give it a full week then try Pepto. I'm bound to find something that works!

SHOT #25~May 8~Didn't get my shot till 9 tonight. We had the neighbors over for cake for Larry's birthday. I had a headache all day so just went straight to bed. I forgot to take a Darvocet and woke up several times during the night in a sweat. I had to open the windows to cool down. Don't know why I didn't get up and go get a pill!
