Week Nine - May 9-May 15, 1998

May 9~I woke up feeling like I needed to sleep! It was not a good night. My head has been pounding for the past few days. I took a Darvocet and it eased it a bit. My body felt so tired all day. Lack of sleep more than anything I am sure.
We are leaving tomorrow for Laughlin, AZ and the Grand Canyon! I've never been to the Grand Canyon and can't wait. The past week was so stressful and depressing and we both need to get away. It took me 2 hours to pack. I had to keep going downstairs to get stuff and kept forgetting half of what I was down there for. Sometimes this brain fog really irritates me!
I've got a real neat travel kit for my Intron and syringes. It will be interesting to see if the maid in the hotel freaks out when she sees the biohazard box for the syringes! The kit has a little freezer thing to keep the Intron cold. We will then put it in an ice bucket full of ice to be sure it stays cold until Monday night. We may even stay through Wednesday so I am taking 2 in the kit, just in case. Tuesday we will go to the Grand Canyon. Its usually a bad day for me, so the ride will be perfect! We both can hardly wait to leave in the morning! One Armed Bandits Here We Come!!!

SHOT #26~May 11/12~That carry case is wonderful. It works great! We did the shot after dinner, then went down to the casino for a couple of hours. Not drinking wasn't so bad either. It got me to bed at a civilized time! I only really wanted to once, right after we arrived. After that, water was great! Hard to get and expensive, but good just the same! I forgot to take a darvocet after the shot and slept rather lousy. Woke up several times during the night.
The 5:30 wake up call came way too early! Grand Canyon Day! It was a long drive, but I was able to sleep for part of the way. We walked all over the South Rim and it definately wore me out. Thats the most exercise I've had in a while! The Intron was behaving too, and I felt pretty good most of the day. Only got a small headache and it left after we ate lunch. I did notice that my eyes were very blurry today, but it may have been from the wind at the Grand Canyon. It was a pretty blustery day! I slept on the way back to the hotel as well. The day was 12 hours from start to finish and we both were exhausted when we got back. We ate and made it an early night. I woke up off and on during the night, forgot to take the darvocet again! Oh yeah...and no, we didn't win millions! We did bring home some money though! It was a great trip and it was nice to know I can take the meds and still enjoy a trip like that.

SHOT #27~May 13/14~He missed tonight. It hurt like heck too for some reason. It stung, too, and we didn't have the syringe in the fridge either. It took Larry 2 stabs to get it so there will for sure be a bruise on this one. I still have bruises from last week on my legs. They go away slowly. I remembered to take the darvocet and slept through the night this time.
I woke up with a headache and my eye pounding. I have a stye. Ugly thing too. I must have got something in it at the Grand Canyon! I felt pretty ok all day today. Larry took me puppy shopping! I've been wanting a puppy but he always said no before. Now that I am home all day he said I could have one! I think maybe he is trying to cheer me up too. I've been getting more and more discouraged by these blood reports. Knowing I am not responding, and knowing I have to keep this up for another month is depressing. I feel like, why bother. Lets move on to the next step. But the Dr wants to go the whole 3 months, and see what the PCR says. So...we will see I guess.
