Tree and Hidden Money
Disappeared in the Storm

"In course of time, Mart decided that it wouldn’t do any harm if he got married, so he started shining up to the window Farrell. She had some cows and a few orange trees and a good frame house on the shore about a quarter of a mile west of Taylor Creek. Mart up and married Miss. Farrell and that’s where he used his head, for he got the widow with the threes and cows. He like to have lost them all though, in that Three Day Hurricane in 1910. It hit the lake on October 17 on a Monday night. Mart and his wife floated on a log until Tuesday afternoon when they was rescued by Will Leitner. The storm damaged his place right smart, but what burned up Uncle Mart was something else. He had buried all his money in a coffee can at the foot of a cypress tree. When he went back to look for it, the tree was gone and so was the coffee can."
