View from the 8th (top) floor of the BeachWinds highrise condominium complex in Cocoa Beach -- looking west (photo taken November 17, 2001).  In the foreground is the parking lot with garages.   Directly across the street (Route A1A, or Atlantic Avenue) is a Dollar General store where "L" shopped frequently.  Near to that is the Anacapri Pizzeria, where "S" and friend Rick dined once (this used to be the location of Krystal Hamburgers, where "S" frequented during his college days.  Just to the left (south) of Dollar General is an ABC Liquor store, and behind that was the Cocoa Beach Public Library that displayed many hand-crafted sculptures, artworks, and paintings.  To the right (north) of the Dollar General was the Rum Runners Cafe and the Pig and Whistle English Pub, where S&L once dined.   In the background is the Banana River, which separates Cocoa Beach from Merritt Island.

Still another view from the 8th (top) floor of the BeachWinds highrise condominium complex in Cocoa Beach -- looking south and down Route A1A (photo taken November 17, 2001).  In the foreground is the parking lot with garages for the neighboring (south) highrise comdominum complex.   Roughly the center of the picture, Route A1A splits into two separate one-way roads, separated by a "Welcome to Cocoa Beach" fountain and stone edifice surrounded by dedication plaques and historical references.
