Cascais

-Cascais is a place, which is appreciated since prehistoric times. It is located near the mouth of the river Tagus in a protected bay, which had strong defences against enemy invaders. It became popular in the 70s of the XIX century when D. Luis I went to spend his summer time there in his summerhouse. Therefore many rich people started building their splendid houses in Cascais. Before becoming so popular it was a village of fishermen, however Cascais today is different and developing to become a good place to live with many shops and restaurantes.

Nowadays the main attraction of Cascais is its bay, the Museum of the Sea, and the beautiful Museum of Conde Castro Guimarães.
