After I left Spain I went to Tunisia, I spent a year as a Senior rep in the resort of Hammamet, and was that an experience, Basically I think it was fantastic and would recommend it to anyone, the climate is very hot so make sure you cover up, I would advise you spent at least 2 weeks there and go on some of the trips available by your tour operator.

WHAT TO DO

As I said before, there are some great places to visit, but I do strongly suggest that you do this via your tour operator, the reason is simple, and I have first hand knowledge as I had to go on all of the tours to assess them and I also done the same tours on my own to try and find out what problems a tourist might find. This is my conclusion. The tours are very good value for money and the tour guides are multilingual, you may be in the coach with all different nationalities, but dont dispair everyone seems to get on fine, the guides are excellent, you get to see a lot more of the sites and they will go into the history of the place you visit and show you a lot of interesting things you will never see on your own, you have enough time to digest the sites as the guide explains some very interesting details, and you also have the security of being in a group not alone, that is very important for some people.

What tours I recommend

The best has to be the 3 day safari, you can do this by coach or by jeep, either way it is one of the most fantatic trips I have ever been on. breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset, a stunning Oasis town, camel rides into the desert, droglodite homes, Roman colluseum, Mosques, you name it you see it.

Another of my favourite excursions has to be Carthage and Sidi bou Said

Well this has surely got to be the place to visit, Carthage has so much history it is worth looking up, just to learn about its history. Here is a link to a bit of the history of Carthage. On the same day you visit Sidi bou Said a typical Tunisian village with lovely whitewashed houses and blue roofs.

If your into spring spas then there is a really pictureque village in the cap bon peninsula and for a great night out you must try the Bedouin feast.
If you are going on holiday over there check out theese links, Im sure you will find them helpful.

Of course there is also a great golf course.
