We were in the Philippines when Uncle Dick turned 80 last October, so we decided to celebrate together at the Oregon Coast in July 1998.  Thinking that the full 80 candles might be a violation of the Waldport fire code, we opted for a less flamboyant  event.  Just a cake, enthusiastic singing, a cranberry-apple toast and we gave him a lottery ticket.  He won!
