The Alpine Flowers of Western British Columbia, Canada
The Indian Paintbrush aflame in brilliant crimson is one of the showiest of the alpine wildflowers. We felt privileged to witness its short-lived display.
Of all the alpine wildflowers, the lupines seem to be the boldest. Its tower of violet blooms hover over the alpine meadows in complete disregard for the last patches of snow.
We do not know the name of this modest, little creeper but we assume it is related to the wild strawberry.
My favorite is clearly the Mountain Heather. Here it is seen growing in a rocky crag. Its bell-like flowers are so delicate, yet its shrubby little body is so tough.
