Monday 15 December Hotel: The Train

Tried to find a working internet connection - failed. Ais, Liz and Andrea all failed at getting their clothes and things altered ( incorrect the first time). So we left for our 4.30 train to Calcutta with a lot of loose ends. However another disaster - the train was delayed until 11.50pm that night. In the meantime we got to spend more 'quality time' with my little sis and also I managed to find a working connection and the others got their stuff - alls well that ends well and the like! Got on the train very tired and worn out and said goodbye to Liz whom we won't see for a while.

Tuesday 16 December Hotel: CentrePoint Hotel, Calcutta
Room Type: Three bedded room ( 200R) Verdict: fine

Spent the day on the train and got in at midnight.

Wednesday 17 December Hotel: CentrePoint Hotel, Calcutta

The nice owner let me use his new machine ( which gave me a virus and therefore this is typed for the second time and you're missing out on some stories cos at the moment I don't have the patience to write it all again - maybe some other time). Calcutta is actually quite nice - very cultural especially relative to the disasterous reports we got about it. We enjoyed ourselves roaming the streets on our first day. Had a few beers that night and chatted away.

Thursday 18 December Hotel: CentrePoint Hotel, Calcutta

Went to a free jazz concert which was brilliant. The Jean-Luc Ponthieux Quartet played their french-style jazz on accordian, sax, drums and bass and we really enjoyed it.

Friday 19th December Hotel: CentrePoint Hotel, Calcutta

Last day in India - we are going to miss it here. Went to the Victoria Memorial and saw some wonderful contemprary artworks that were on special exhibition there. Also visited the India Museum and Mother Calcuttas' grave!

Saturday 20 December Left on a jet plane for Bangkok
BYE BYE INDIA :-(
