I used to work at Rocky Glen in the mid 70s (It was in its Ghost Town in the Glen phase). The coaster at the time was a wooden one built in the late 50s. It was built to replace what they used to refer to as the "Million Dollar Coaster" which I believe wa built in the 30s or 40s but proved to be dangerous...or so the story goes. They had an office on the second floor of where we used to meet prior to our workday. Up there was wall-sized photo of that coaster. It was fantastic! I wish I could have ridden o it. It went out over the lake. The view must have been spectacular. They used to say that when they tore it down they used wood from it to built the Comet -- the coaster that replaced it. I was at Rocky Glen this summer (they had a park and ride there fo the local air show). So I couldn't resist taking a walk through the burned out ruins of my old haunts. It's very difficult to even locate where anything was, it's that destroyed...however, down by the lake you can still see the concrete foundations for t e old million dollar coaster.

One thing nobody knows that is's lost coaster alled "wildcat" was once one of the best in the country. You seem to have a fondness for old and lost parks.I think many people would enjoy reeding about Idora Parks history and tragic end. Thank you!
