News - Archive #1 Old News from 1998 July Recap This month we had band camp, got our new band shirts, and all that other good stuff. The show this year is "La Fiesta Caliente!" Over 25 pages of drill have been learned, and a great premier show was performed. Thanks again to everyone who helped out through these two weeks of band camp. State festival. President

Other things to note: W.E. is preparing for state, yesterday Dr. Adams, visited, giving help to the band. Also, Mr. Cook (98' intern) visited. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. WATFORD!!! this week he turned 29 years old. (that's a little errata for the trivia section by the way ;-). by the way, forum is FRIDAY, and all papers are due MONDAY!!! March 22 The 99' band composite arrived last week. It's not hanging on the back wall. Also, W.E.is (of course) preparing for state. New music for state includes Variations on a Korean folk song. Some of the pieces that W.E. will play for the spring concert include Symphonic Dance No.3 "Fiesta," and Finale from the new world symphony. March 6th Wind Ensemble played at Festival at WSHS. With a superb effort on all account, W.E., received straight superiors. Good Job!! March 5th Lake Howell's Symphonic Band played at Festival at Winter Springs High School (formally LH). They received 2 excel. and one superior on stage and a superior in sight-reading, resulting in a final grade of excellent. February 99' Recap All-county took place. Look in the New Student Highlights page for information on who was in it. Also, at solo and ensemble Jazz Band made an excellent, Woodwind Choir made a superior. In addition many band kids did solos and ensembles, receiving Superiors and excellencies. Also, John Dupuis (98' Drum Major/Senior), composed a piece that FSYO played during a concert. More information in Student Highlights. Finally, many Silver Regiment members were inducted into the National Honors Society at Lake Howell (see Student Highlights). January 99' Recap Festival Music in full swing. HAPPY NEW YEAR:) Also, welcome to our new intern, Mr. Cox!!! December Recap. New additions are the 98 Concert Section, and a big Jazz Band Page, plus a revised Gilded Skies page. This month the Band had it's annual Winter Concert. Also, Mr. Watford was awarded as Lake Howell's Teacher of the year!!! October & November Recap The Silver Regiment finish the Marching Season on a high note........ Straight Superiors at FBA,with a near perfect judge sheets (all columns marked +!)!!!! The Silver Regiment also performed at Seminole County band festival, and was considered the best band there. October 13th Lots of things have been updated. New sections include the tug times online, a new articles section, new gilded skies photos, more band camp photos, and more. October the 3rd The Silver Regiment makes BOA finals! September 30 Schools off today. I have just fixed the guestbook so that it actually works! And look a updated roster section coming soon that will feature links to photos. The 98 roster should be up soon to. Silver Regiment members, please look over your show music today!!!! September 29 Page 60 is added to the show. This is simply the page in which we form a big block in order professionally march off the field. Only 1 practice remains to Band of America! Look for more band camp photos and 98 football game photos coming soon. September 25 and 26 Hurricane George rained out both the football game, and Seminole Sound. Seminole Sound is to be re-scheduled, but it is unknown if the Silver Regiment will be able to attend. September 18 The Silver Regiment was rained out during the football game against seminole. The football team did play, and ended up losing. September 12 All-State auditions were held. Band Camp photos were also added to this website. Only 10 School days are left until Seminole Sound Spectacular! September 11 The 2nd Football game was against our rivals Oviedo, but this year the team succeeded and we won! This was the first football game in which "the gilded Skies" was performed in it's entirety. September 4th The first football game of the season was against Winter Park. The football team came up short, but the Silver Regiment came through with a awesome performance for the first game. August 20th The Silver Regiment is featured in "The Winter Springs Voice". Click Here to read the article. July 24th Premier Night. The Silver Regiment Performed the first 2 movements with drill. July 20th The 2nd Week Of Band Camp Begins. As of the first week, 15 pages of drill have been completed. Summer 98': Not much is happening. One Full Band Rehearsal Occurred in which The Guilded Skies-Part II is first played, plus several sections had sectionals. May 8th Mrs. Watford gives birth to a baby girl, named Lauren. She weighed 8 pounds 6 oz. Everyone in the Silver Regiment wishes the Watfords the best. May 7th The 98' Show "Guilded Skies-Part I" is first played by Wind Ensemble. May 6th Section Leaders are announced. May 5th Drum Major Tryouts are completed. John Dupuis and Krissy Rule are this years drum majors. May 1st Wind Ensemble wins the Otto J. Kraushaar award.The award is given only to bands that have received superiors at both Marching and State festival. This has been the first time Lake Howell Has Even recieved this award. Also,
