Grandma woke us up this morning about 7:20. We had coffee on the balcony while we watched the beach come alive. Next door the coconut man is also the beach raker and the umbrella setter-upper. The beach hawkers started arriving, setting up their T-shirt umbrellas etc. Dad, Jeff and I headed across the street to "Bananarama" for omelettes. Under 20 pesos each for ham and cheese omelette, potatoes, toast, jam and juice. That's about $2.50 Canadian.
Pretty lazy day. We beached for a while and shopped a little. I took Christy for lunch later as she had opted for no breakfast. She had a sincarazado (ham & cheese on a tortilla). I had a mango licuado. Then back for more beach time, and then the pool.
There were 3 little Mexican ninos splasing around in the pool. Of course Grandpa got right in there and before you knew it he was teaching them English and we were learning some Spanish.... as well as a few of their "swimming tricks". Fun.
We had supper at Las Palmas, right beside our hotel. When we arrived we thought maybe they were closed, as there were no chairs set up, although there were a couple of tables with people already seated. We were about to leave, when one of the gentlemen customers said "Just pull up a chair. She will come." Sure enough, the lady who owns the restaurant came along and served us. Jeff ate 2 hamburgers with fries, while Mom, Dad and I all had fish. Very tasty. Just under $17 for 3 meals. Thats just over $5.00 each Canadian. I think I like eating in Mexico!
After supper Dad and I went for a walk. As we were approaching the zocola (town square), there were lots of people milling about. Turns out they have a "walk about" on Sunday evenings where all the locals get together and socialize. As we walked along there was a true carnival complete with ferris wheel, tilt-a-whirl, games of chance, cotton candy, and all kinds of food. Next week, when the rest of our family arrives, we'll all go together!
