About the Authors

I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, with my husband (he-who-shall-remain-nameless). I work in marketing for Hewlett-Packard Company, doing work completely unrelated to my college degree and my web interests. He-who-shall-remain-nameless also works in a field completely unrelated to the Internet. Neither of us create web pages for a living, yet.

The grand world of the Internet was discovered in our humble apartment in May, 1995 and nothing has been the same since. It began on a Friday night with learning how to surf the Web. The World Wide Web was much smaller then. By Sunday we had our first inkling that we could create our own web site. Many thanks to Grahame Cooper and his HTML Author, our first glimpse of how to create our own web page. He-who-shall-remain-nameless was gung-ho to jump onto the Information Highway, but I'm embarrassed to say I was rather reluctant at first. As you can see, I got over that infliction quickly.

By the following weekend, we had a list of a dozen sites we wanted to create. We have experimented with several, but have finally whittled the list down to just one that lasts, and several temporary sites that typically don't last a week. This site began as my experiment in learning how to create a web page, while still providing content in an area of interest to me: Scotland.

About the Site

The information provided here is entirely subject to my bias. I put information here that is interesting to me, and we try to make it entertaining for you, the surfer, as well. You will probably notice a bias toward the northwestern area of Scotland, the Grampian Region, as well as a tendency to talk about the Campbell Clan. I spent 4 months living in Aberdeen, attending Aberdeen University. I also have Campbell ancestors, which gives you a hint to why our site is named Cruachan.

As I mentioned above, this began as an experiment in how to create a web page, using my interests to provide the content. A site without content is pretty useless, so I hope you find my information useful. If there is anything in particular you want to see, drop us a message and we will try to accomodate you when possible.

About the Technology

Because the nature of this project allows us to continually add new sites, the pages you encounter here will show a variety of levels of advancement. We periodically revisit the pages to improve them in minor ways, but there is so much more we want to add, we don't always take the time to clean up pages in ways that might improve their usability. Our excitement keeps us moving forward!
