(how things are as of 10/13 at 10:45 am)
For some reason, I found myself in Chicago for few days (August 16-20, 2000). Had a great time. I'll leave it at that. I had been holding out for a while to see if I got the second set of pictures sent to me, but it's been about 2 years and I figure that's a lost cause at this point. So I scanned a few that I have and I suppose I can just leave it at that.

So here's the story:
I went out to Chicago to meet my good buddy Beth. We had a great time tooling around the city, trying not to get too lost downtown. And the food.. my goodness, that gal can pack in some serious food, and they have serious food out there.
I'll put up a brief synopsis for now, and then add more when I scan pictures in. I flew in Wednesday night, and we spent a quiet evening in the hotel in Tinley Park with our Wendy's burgers by candlelight. Thursday we went downtown, saw the Chicago Art Insitute (great museum, check it out, dude), and hung out for a while near Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain before heading out to the theater to see Blue Man Group (which is an awesome show).

First we had a fancy-assed dinner just down the street from the theater, and got seated in the back (my shorts & t-shirt and her big voice probably contributed to that) where Beth was mesmerized by mashed potatoes that were scooped out of Cloud 9. After the show, we actually made it back without getting too lost.

On Friday, we headed back downtown and saw the Adler Planetarium. We coulda seen more museums but instead decided to relax on the grassy hill by the lakeshore. There's a nice view back of the city from there. Eventually we found the Sears Tower (everyone says, "You couldn't find it? All you gotta do is look up!") and had a great view of the world from there. Afterward, we headed out to Navy Pier where we rode the Ferris wheel (where I was terrified). Somewhere in there, I don't remember when exactly, we took some pictures in Lincoln Park. Had some kick-ass stuffed pizza for dinner at the candlelit hotel again.
On Saturday we went out to visit folks. First it was brother Drew and his wife and kids where we ate at Merishka's, home of the beef PoorBoy, dripping with cheese and dipped in extra garlic butter. Yowza.. Then it was off to the Channahon Three River Festival where all the hicks showed up. Nifty. Apparently, if it weren't for Chicago, Illinois would be just another po'dunk place.
