Crawford County, Georgia 1901

James Schofill lost his mule and though we don't know what calamity fell the animal, we know that his family, friends and neighbors came to his aid. In true Southern style, someone posted this petition somewhere in the town, perhaps at the church or the general store. (This is as unlikely a source for genealogical data, as you might ever see, but I say never look a gift horse in the mouth. Some of the spelling may not be exact. ) The names are listed below are some Crawford County Residents who contributed to a "loan" for his new mule:
