Fredericton Lighthouse

Fredericton Lighthouse, July, 1998

The Fredericton Lighthouse is now a Museum.  The museum still operates the light at night, but it is a redundant aid to navigation.

The museum is worth a visit, although much of the material provided has nothing to do with the lighthouse or lighthouses in general.  Is does give a good feeling, though, to climb the stairs to the lantern room and stand next to the lamp.  That position offers a great view of the river.

When I visited the lighthouse in the summer of 1998, the weather did not co-operate.  There was heavy cloud and light rain, far from ideal conditions for photographing the building.  But it was a lighthouse and I was there, so I couldn't resist.  I'm glad I didn't.
