Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse

Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse

Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, August, 1998

The current Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse was built in 1892 and automated in 1970.

This lighthouse is another of my special ones.  In 1970-71, after it was automated, the keepers house was occupied by two artists.  I visited with them on several occasions, and spent many evenings chatting about the world of art and photography.  Funny thing is, I never knew their names, and I don't think they knew mine.  We had met when they gave me a ride one time, and we found points of interest to keep talking.

The lighthouse is in the Gros Morne National Park in Rocky Harbour.  The road to the lighthouse is marked, and the lighthouse is visible from the highway.
