Seacow Head Lighthouse

Fernwood, Prince Edward Island

Seacow Head Lighthouse

Seacow Head Lighthouse, July, 1998

A lighthouse has shone from Seacow Head since 1863.

This is certainly one of the most interesting of Prince Edward Island lighthouse locations, with the high, steep cliffs and eroded landforms.  One could easily spend a day here, walking and climbing to view the lighthouse from many other vantage points.

I visited this lighthouse in the summer of 1998 on one of my early morning outings and spent about one hour there.  While I didn't have all the time I would have liked to walk and investigate the landform more, I did still enjoy the visit tremendously.  I was pleased to see the work being performed on the lighthouse.   That means that it will be in an attractive shape for a few more years.  But that is generally true of most lighthouses on Prince Edward Island.
