Port Borden Pier Lighthouse, July, 1998
The Port Borden Pier Lighthouse is a Canadian rarity, built in 1976. Few other lighthouses have been built since the early 1900s.
I visited this lighthouse and the Borden range lights on one of my early morning outings during our summer 1998 vacation. A sign on the pier stated that the pier was off limits to any but authorized personnel, and it was too early in the morning to find someone to get permission, so I viewed it from a distance. Later, though, when I viewed it from a distance, there were several people actually visiting the lighthouse. But by then it was too late. Next time I will get near it.
