- Rose Blanche Lighthouse Re-opens - July, 1999
- The granite lighthouse at Rose Blanche, Newfoundland re-opened during the summer of 1999, after renovation that took several years and a tremendous effort by a number of people. The event was celebrated with a 4 day festival from July 22-25, 1999. If you are in that area, the lighthouse and the people are well worth the visit.
Rose Blanche is on the Southwest corner of Newfoundland, about 40 kilometres east of Port-aux-Basques. The drive from Port-aux-Basques to Rose Blanche is, in my opinion, one of the most scenic in Newfoundland. The drive and the lighthouse are attractions that should not be missed.
