During July and August of 1998, we spent four weeks in Atlantic Canada touring Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. With a lot of very early morning outings, I managed to visit or view 64 lighthouses. I am working on compiling my photographs of this trip for inclusion on this site. Until it is completed, I offer some of the following images for your enjoyment.
Newfoundland
In Newfoundland, the home of my childhood, I managed to visit 13 lighthouses, including some very special ones for me.
Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse
Cape Bonavista Lighthouse
Cow Head Lighthouse
Old Rose Blanche Lighthouse
Nova Scotia
I saw 23 of the 160 lighthouses in Nova Scotia.
Port Medway Lighthouse
Peggy's Cove Lighthouse
New Brunswick
By the time we left Prince Edward Island, there was little time left for New Brunswick and I managed to see only six of the more than 80 lighthouse. We will have to return when we make our trip to Quebec.
Shippagan Lighthouse
Miscou Island Lighthouse
Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island is rich in lighthouses, with more than 50 for an island that you can drive around in a day. I managed to see 22 of them during this trip.
Cape Tryon Lighthouse
North Cape Lighthouse
West Point Lighthouse
