Comments: My Father has a 19 foot strem boat, which we will be saling on Windermere, Lakedistrict, UK. I have also been on the waverly 3 times, once in a storm so bad that we had to dock 25 miles from our original port, and once I saw a nuclear Sub. I can send you a picture of a Steam Canoe (a canoe with a steam engine in it) which my dad's friend built. T ere are some steam boats at www.steamboat.org.uk The first picture you see is Shamrock (I think). My dad works on a ship, but you can't put a picture of it on your web page because it's too big! It is a super tanker. I know you have some Oil Tankers, but especially the one on the left is just a dingy compared to the ship my dad works on. My dads steam boat is 19 feet long and has a 4 Horse Power engine in it. He made the Engine and boiler himself, but he had the hull made by a welshman. I think you have a picture of the Windremere ferry, under Car Ferry. Please Reply to this as I don't get many E-Mails. Simon Maltby

Comments: Your picture of a Briganteen shows a ship with two square sails and a gaff sail on the foremast. I think this might be a topsail schooner. I worked on the Briganteen Romance in the Virgin Islands in the late 1970's. It had four squaresails and no gaff s il on the foremast. It was rigged by Allen Villiers(sp?) for the movie Hawaii (formerly Thetis). I think the owner was Capt Kimberly? Would love to find out what happened to the Capt and his wife (still alive?) I did see a picture of the ship on a Danish tin cookee container in the 1980's. Would love to know where it is now..but it would make a great defining picture of what a Briganteen is: square rigged on the foremast. Thanks for listening! Pete

Comments: I think I probably would have enjoyed surfing through the photo gallery, if I didn't have to contend with a pop-up ad on every photo page. Worst of all in regards to the ads was the fact that they aren't even related to the maritime field or boating. My site is Maritime related and I have strived to keep the commercials OUT of it.
