NAT CARNES Raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and educated at Baylor University (History), Nat Carnes worked as a news reporter for 32 years, mostly with the Associated Press in the Caribbean. There he gathered information for stories from the English, Dutch, French and Spanish worlds. He started at the Kansas City Star and United Press International in Kansas City before moving to Puerto Rico in 1962; and started writing political novels in 1988. His idea is to take a piece of news and make it into a readable, exciting and visual account of people and events in Caribbean and Latin America, one of the world's most interesting and important regions.
