There are a lot of nooks and crannies in mountains and rivers that are... simply ... appealing to the human soul. The Cordilleras of the Republic of the Philippines have such too... In my travels,I would go through seemingly boring landscapes... or through tiresome climbs, then come upon a location that strikes me, either because it seems so peaceful..., or it is beautiful, or the air is just right... It sure ain't no tourist spot--but as many swear by their favorite places, it sure beats tourist spots.
The Amlusong river at Latang, Bontoc, Mountain Province. This was onced famed for the eels that were fished here. Way back when I was young, the eels were as big as my father's ankle. It was said that the eels thrived here because the water was so clean. The water here is very cold, and deep.
