Bard's Revenge (Blues 2)
What's the worst that can happen to you, if you kill a Bard?
I say, what's the worst that can happen, if you kill a Bard?
We write a song about you, make you feel like you've been scarred.
(Heh, that ain't the worst anymore; listen on...)
I went south of the city to try to help a friend.
I say, I went south of the city to try to help a friend.
I didn't expect to meet a sudden bloody end.
Another friend, he warned me, he said I was not safe.
Yeah, another friend, he warned me, he said I was not safe.
Couldn't avoid the summons, and that ambush sure did chafe!
Faoust, Centros, and Constance: You shoulda stayed in bed.
I say, Faoust, Centros, and Constance: You shoulda stayed in bed.
You killed me the once, but you're what? Five or ten times dead?
(Bet you don't try that again, eh?)
The strength of us Bards is in our friends and in our songs.
I say, the strength of us Bards is in our friends and in our songs.
Somtimes it ain't worth it to do us singers any wrongs.
My thanks go to Vespasian, who's on the Ten Most Wanted List.
I give my thanks to Vespasian, who's on the Ten Most Wanted List.
For revenge the master licker was an awesome terrorist.
Esarvee, Master Singer
[Historic Note: Vespasian the Assassin was the only assassin Esarvee had ever known who paid her to give him targets for his need to murder. They met in the Goblin Village southeast of Galadon one day: he was running from an Arbiter because he was flagged for breaking the law, and she was just resting from practicing attack songs. They became fast friends because she did not get upset with him for licking her in greeting. Vespasian had also been a guild-brother/friend of Esarvee's famous cousins Saphyra and Daeldron. Once wishing to join the BattleRagers, Vespasian decided that none of the cabals, even the Ragers, had the right answers to the questions in his life. While he was wary of magic, he decided not to become violent over it, and indeed, he spent hours discussing magic, life, the universe, and everything with the very magical Saphyra and Daeldron. By the time he had met Esarvee, he was already a perennial criminal, always flagged, always hunted by the Arbiters. Before he died his final death via lack of vitality, Vespasian gave all his possessions to Esarvee with the exception of his ruby-hilted dagger.]
