And We Still Don't Know Her Answer
I was there to witness this dreadful affair
Which took place in crowded Market Square.
Many were there to witness what should have been
A happy occasion.
"It's been a long time, Nepenthae... too long," said
Nester to the felar Ranger. He kept his head
And went on to propose marriage. Nervous she
Was, felt like a little girl again, but we
Stood by her, twin brother Nepenthus and I,
Waiting with Nester to hear her reply.
And Vainamoinen was there, and in and out:
Cope, Cassius, Fenrak, Sondrigon. All heard the shout
"Help! Alexia is strangling me!" All Galadon heard the yell
And anger rose in Market Square fit to raise up Hell.
"Hey, this is nerve wracking," Nepenthae told us
As against Alexia we raised up a fuss.
Then our group grew with Vainamoinen and Nester.
Alexia said "Sorry" and fury did fester
In Nepenthus. Then on the Trade road by Warriors' Guild
Alexia returned and had Nepenthus killed.
(You just don't say "sorry" to a Llothian, you know.
It's not good for healthy blood flow.
And blood does not flow from threat of death
One can always walk away and save life's breath...)
Alexia called a Squire who Nepenthus' corpse looted
And Chak garbled Vainamoinen and uprooted
Us. Nepenthus landed near the Realm of the Dead,
But would rather have been with his sister, instead,
At the Quadruple Junction
Beneath Galadon's Large Intersection.
All managed get to a safe place
But to Alexia we could not give chase.
For soon after her Squire had looted
She from the land of Thera herself booted.
(Nester, an assassin like her, could not see
Her, so we knew her not in Thera to be.)
Whither honor? Is it considered lawful
For Knights to kill and loot in town? Awful
Is what we thought, and worse,
Which is why I was asked to put this event to verse.
