Codes for The Need For Speed

While driving hold down on the controller for 2 seconds, the race map and current speed will be gone. All you will see is your car and the track.

In two player mode split screen, if both players hold down for 2 seconds, the race map, current speed and time will be gone.

To hide the gauges press Down and Left or Down and Right while the traffic signal is counting down. You can now play in Full Screen Mode.

Turn the Horn into an Invisible Machine Gun:
Immediately after selecting your opponents car, press and hold L1, Circle, Square, Up, and Left on the controller until loading is complete. Now when you press Up, instead of hearing a horn, you'll hear a machine gun. When you use it, it will cause other cars to go flying or tumbling over and make you almost unbeatable. This code can be done with 1 or 2 players.

Different Modes:
Enter XRMQHX at the Tournament Password Screen then go back and choose another race type. Get get to No Mercy Mode (no cars or cops). Press and hold R1 and L1 while choosing Head-to-Head under the Single Player Menu. To access the Arcade mode, hold R1 and L1 at the Number of Laps Option.

In tournament mode, go into password and type: TSYBNS
This will get you the bonus track (Lost Vegas).

Enter the above password before entering any of the following codes.

Now you can play NFS in Rally Mode. Go to any track select except Rusty Springs and press and hold L1+R1. Power Slide City! Note: if you do this on Rusty Springs you get OASIS.

To get some faster additions to the regular cars:
At any car select (without the secret car), just press and hold L1+R1 and you'll get the speedy Warrior Car.

Mo-Mercy Mode:
At the race type screen, press R1 and L1 simultaneously. Head to Head will change to No Mercy.

Add weight to a car:
At the car selection screen, select Car Showcase, and Mechanical. From here, select Next Slide. You can now add extra weight to the car you are viewing. Pushing L1 will add weight to the front of the car and pushing R1 will add weight to the rear of the car. The weight is marked by the number of red triangles at that end of the car.

*Extra Track-Lunar Springs:
Enter SPKSHC at the Tournament Password Screen. Now go to a One Player or Head to Head game. Now highlight Rusty Springs, and press R1, LI, and Triangle. LUNAR SPRINGS should appear and you can race on the moon.
