To win with Hulk, you've basically got to just get in
there and hit them. Sure, you can learn a few combos to
help you out but the main thing that Hulk needs to focus
on, is getting those big fists to connect with his
opponent's faces.
Advantages
Strength, strength and more strength! Hulk is the
strongest character in the whole game. He doesn't need
too many combos to win. In addition to his strength,
he's got air priority, throw range and range.
- Hulk takes very little damage per hit. It takes twice
as much effort on your opponent's part to finish the big
guy off. This gives you some breathing room to fight with.
Hulk still has his super armor from MSF. He'll be able
to absorb one or two hits before he actually starts feeling
the attack. Let Hulk get hit by some jabs, then pay them
back with a Fierce!
For a big guy, Hulk sure is fast! He's quite maneouverable
and he's got a good forward dash, letting him go on the offense
if he feels like it.
Hulk has very long limbs that reach very far. This gives him
insane priority everywhere. If he's jumping in, he's got priority,
if he's on the ground, he can trade hits with jumpers and if he's
a third of a screen away, he can catch em with his S.Fierce. He's
actually a very dangerous jumper.
Disadvantages
Hulk's biggest problem is that he is so friggin big. He's
the tallest and widest playable character, making him a very
big target. He's vulnerable to certain combos that wouldn't
work on the smaller fellas and he's easier to counter.
Most of Hulk's special moves will leave him wide open if
they're blocked. Be especially careful of the Gamma Tornado,
Gamma Charge and Gamma Crush.
Hulk's super armor does not work if he's in the air or if
he's hit by a Fierce or Roundhouse attack. Smarter opponents
know this fact and will take away Hulk's super armor advantage
by using air defenders and heavy jump ins.
Offense
Keep coming at your opponent with his Short. This single
attack is the basis of any combos that the big guy has. In
the air, it has good priority, and it doesn't knock his opponent
too far away. On the ground, his Short is fast enough for him
dash in and combo his opponent. The trick is to get them to hit
him with a short or jab of their own. His super armor will protect
him, allowing you to finish up the chain.
Hulk's Roundhouse attacks are also very useful. In the air,
the roundhouse has insane priority and it's almost impossible
to counter with any normal move. A Hulk player with good timing
will be able to keep his opponent stuck in a corner blocking those
big kicks and if one connects, the damage that it does is nuts.
It also leaves them stunned long enough to combo in a Gamma Quake.
His S.Roundhouse is a high priority anti air attack and it is also
a launcher. Almost nothing will penetrate this attack. However,
it takes forever to come out so you've got to learn the timing.
The Gamma Crush is great for crossing up opponents. After he
rises in the air, try to position Hulk so that he lands behind the
opponent. Most of the time, they won't be able to block correctly
and get hit by the asteroid.
Hulk has excellent throw priority, so use it! Since most of his
attacks are quite slow, you've got almost no choice but to throw
when the pressure is on.
Since all of Hulk's attacks do chipping damage, a turtling
opponent will think twice about blocking all day.
Defense
Hulk's Fierce attacks are an important part of his defensive
game. His C.Fierce is an excellent air defender and it is also
his launcher. Get to know the timing so that you can pull it off
perfectly everytime. Follow up with a Gamma Crush, Air Combo or
Gamma Wave. His S.Fierce is an excellent counter attack for missed
and blocked attacks.
The Gamma Charge is an excellent counter attack move because it
is so fast. If you manage to block an opponent's attack up close, go
for the charge and hit them for some good damage. If you haven't been
charging back, just hit em with the S.Fierce.
If you like the Gamma Tornado, you can use Hulk's super armor to
your advantage. Just wait for your opponent to jump in on you, absorb
some hits and while they're still desperately trying to hit him, Hulk
will grab em out of the air!
Onslaught
First Form - Onslaught's first form is tough for Hulk cause he's
such a big guy. Most of the time, Onslaught will be able to kill him
with the incredible chipping damage that he can dish out. Try to get
behind him if you can and hit him with as many Fierce attacks as you
can. Be sure to cancel them into Jab Ground Waves to make him reel.
The Gamma Quake will work well against Onslaught as long as he doesn't
teleport out of it. Otherwise, it's best to just switch to your other
character.
Second Form - The second form is a cynch for Hulk. All you need to
do is continually mule kick him in the face. You can do this while on
the ground or you can jump up and hit him. The damage that results from
this move will have Onslaught dead after a few kicks. Don't try any of
his supers against him cause they won't really do jack.
Fighting Hulk
Block a lot. If you blindly rush him, you run the risk of getting
hit by one of those big attacks that he's got. Attack him wisely,
blocking whever you anticipate a counter.
Go for the painful attacks or the quick combos. His super armor
will be useless if you use Fierce or Roundhouse attacks and he won't
be able to counter fast enough if you hit him with a quick dash in
combo. If you're too slow with thos Jabs and Shorts, then get ready
for that big lunging punch.
Watch out for his throws. Hulk has insane throw range and he's not
afraid to flaunt it. If he's right on top of you, chances are he'll
throw. Try to get away before it's too late.
Don't get overconfident with him. Sure he's big and slow but that
doesn't make him an easy target. I've beaten a lot of guys cause they
enver expect Hulk to meet them in the air and air combo. Be careful
against him.
Wait for him to try one of his slow recovering attack, a Gamma Charge
or Gamma Tornado. Block it first, then dash in and launch him. In the air,
Hulk is the best target for long painful combos cause of his size.
If he does a Gamma Crush, Jump back as far as you can and try not
to get crossed up. Also, don't push it because he's a very easy target
to hit when he's bouncing back from it.
