Besides, my best work is in words anyway.
I have included links to sites with a lot of pretty pictures, though, in case you get bored.
I spent most of my childhood in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Illinois is also a great place to be from.
I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign,where I got a BS degree in computer science.
I had my first job when I was in high school; I worked at the Glenview Public Library. My first real job was as The Programming Department at the Jackson National Life Insurance branch in northern Illinois. My first job out of college was at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and my first real job after college was at Intel... and I'm still there. I find it kind of odd that all of my previous jobs have some sort of Web presence. I wonder how many other people can make that claim at this time.
I got married in April 1996 to Sunshine Whitehurst, who ran for California State Assembly (27th district, which covers most of Santa Cruz and Monterey counties) in the Natural Law Party. She's the second from the right, in the brown hat, in the first picture here. I'm not in that picture because 1) I'm not running for anything, and 2) I'm pretty sure I'm the one holding the camera.
I am allergic to most cats. There are two kinds of cats: nose cats and lung cats. Nose cats make my nose run; I eventually develop a tolerance to them, and we can then get along just fine. Lung cats make my lungs fill up with whatever fluid lungs fill up with; my nose works just fine but I still can't breathe. I never develop a tolerance to lung cats. I am not allergic to dogs.
Sunshine and I have a dog.
Steve's my brother and Sue's my sister. Steve's wife is Jenny, but she's not that Jenny McCarthy. Just like I am not this D. J. McCarthy, which is fine by me, because his page is much uglier than mine is. Neither Steve nor Sue have home pages; I turned out to be the only nerd in the family.
The Empyrea Pages - named after the planet where most of the action happens in my role-playing campaign
More role-playing stuff: my proposed White Dwarf campaign, and the Fourth Age universe
Magic: The Gathering, Wizards of the Coast, the M:tG Card Database, and the Magic league I belong to
talk.bizarre, and the home pages of other people that hang out there
Babylon 5 - the official site, and the Lurker's Guide
