Childhood friends with Cloud until he left their hometown of Nibelheim to join the elite squad SOLDIER. She has strong feelings for Cloud but she will never admit it. When her parents died she also left Nibelheim to go and open up her own Bar, Tifa's Seventh Heaven, in Midgar. She then met Barret and the others and was convinced into joining their rebelious team, AVALANCHE. She can always cheer the team up when they are down, and she also tries to convince Cloud to stay after his first mission with the team.
Don't let her looks fool you, when fighting she lets her fists do the talking and she can decimate almost any enemy. Although she is weaker than BARRET and CLOUD she makes up for it with her superb limit breaks which form a chain of up to seven devastating hits. These are represented by a chain of slots which can be stopped in turn on things like "MISS", "HIT" and "YEAH!" these determine the strength of the hit with extra damage being caused if you can stop the slot on "YEAH!". It is always best to put Tifa in the front line when fighting because she will not serve any kind of purpose in the back ranks unless you load her down with materia.
