The Storyteller As all begin to bed down under the open sky, the last vestige of a full moon shines brightly. Sharply across the sky a star streaks overhead, striking northward along our very course. On the morrow, all awake restless and antsy, a feeling left over from darkly shadowed and unrecalled dreams throughout the night. Just looking in each other's eyes we can see the dream reflected, but none can call it to words, and the day is long ahead of us. Onyx I will make a quick check of the camp to make sure everything is in order. If everything is as it should be I will help get breakfast ready so we can eat and get on the road. Jeath Sometime during the day I will attempt to ask Zeptha about this upcoming wedding. Anytime she wants to stop I'll change the subject and talk horses with her. However, if she is willing to talk about it, I'd like to know who the lucky guy is, and if this is an arranged marriage. If it is arranged, has she ever met the guy? When and where is the wedding? I willl also ask Darrin how it is that a drow is the head of his caravan. Christeel Christeel will see to his horse and the rest when he wakes. he will then have breakfast and prepare for the days ride. Christeel will talk with Darrin on this day and ask "Darrin how are you today. You seem to be some what troubled, I tend to notice these thing about a person. If you would care to talk I would be willing to listen if you chose to share your burdend. I have live for a while longer that yourself and one as young as yourself should not be troubled so." From some of your reactions I would think that you do not approve of this comming wedding? I bet that it is one of those arranged weddings, my people believe in that sort of thing. But I don't share all of my people's belief's. I like the notion of true love not one of convenience." By the way what is the next town we are to visit?" Christeel will do some scouting ahead on the wagon at diffrent times of the day. and also keep an eye out for any tracks that seems out of the ordinary | (#)==|===Christeel=====> | Darrin grins and says softly, "I'm not saying that my Uncle won't gain something from this marriage, but Zeptha is the one that asked her father if she could marry Ross. And Ross is a fine man. At least once a visit to Waterdeep, I dine with him, and all he can talk about is my cousin. No, I am very happy for them. If I seem depressed, it is..." he takes a deep breath before continuing, "Perhaps, I just miss my friend. Tag and I are seldom apart. I'll be fine I'm sure. We should catch up to him in a couple more days. Thank you for your concern." > > By the way what is the next town we are to visit?" There are only a couple of small villages of little import on the way to Waterdeep, but they have inns with comfortable beds, Darrin says with a grin, "And from what previous employees have said, the beds are only empty if that's what you desire," he chuckles warmly, his emerald eyes twinkling. > > Christeel will do some scouting ahead on the wagon at diffrent times > of the day. and also keep an eye out for any tracks that seems > out of the ordinary Red Day 2 on the road Strangers? Darrin is quick to call attention to the wonderful sunrise. It is sure to be a pleasant day for a long ride. During a hasty breakfast, Zeptha breaks a few hearts it seems. Yes, she is to be married to Sir Ross Marquet in Waterdeep. On the third day of the festival. Her beloved is the leader of an up and coming mercenary company, and a very great man in his own right. She is as bright as the sunshine as she assists everyone to prepare their mounts. All mount up and the trip is begun. For all his anxiousness, Darrin does not ride near the front with Zeptha. It seems she is the one who is impatient to reach Waterdeep, though with the upcoming marriage that is understandable. But aside from Zeptha, Darrin takes great pains to ride near everyone at some point in the day and engage in some conversation, especially asking everyone where they are from and why they are going to Waterdeep. The road is still in good condition and as the sun beats high overhead, the day a little too pleasant perhaps, a mixed group of five, elves and humans, ride towards us. They are on horse only, with no wagons to slow them down, and all wear riding leathers with swords sheathed at their sides. Response to Red Squadron's second day on the road. Onyx I will watch the approaching group for signs af aggression, such as hands twitching towards for weapons. However, I will also keep a very close eye on the woods on both sides of the road to see if there happen to be any more people waiting in a possible ambush. If I do see anyone in the woods I will shout a quick warning, stop and secure the wagon, heft my axe and get ready to leap into battle. In my opinion this trip has been too quiet and I am just waiting for something to go wrong. I think these people could be more than simple travellers. I will make sure my axe and bow are in reach in case I need them. I also check my dagger and make sure it is loose in its sheath. If Darrin calls for the wagons to halt I will put the brake on and secure the reins so I can help in case there is a fight. I will not strap on my shield since I do not want to make a move that could be seen as aggressive. Foldis; On seeing the group I will slow my wagon almost to a stop and slip my hand into the wrist band of my axe. I will then watch for any sudden movements from the group approaching. Once the other group are within loud talking distance, assuming we get that close without incident, I will put the brake on the wagon secure the reins and climb down - leaving the hand with the axe in it out of sight on the wagon. Other than that I will just watch and wait. Jeath I'll rein my horse in and look for Darrin, explaining that we have visitors. Then I'll stay near the rear of the group. Fighting is not my forte. I'll keep an eye out for trouble. If I see anything suspicious I'll holler a warning. Cyril Upon seeing the strangers I will move toward the back of the wagon. Any aggressive action will be responded to by a magic missle. The strangers will see no anger or aggression in my eyes, just blankness. If we begin conversation then I will exchange pleasentries gladly and gather information about there travels. Christeel Christeel will reign his horse and head out in front of the wagons if he is not already there. He will make sure that if Zeptha is up front that he is sure to align himself so that he is between the riders and Zeptha. Christeel will glance back at Darrin to see if he is taking any actions. As the riders get closer Christeel will in a most hearty manner say "Greetings travelers and How does your day go gentleman" Christeel will make a clicking noise to his horse. At the noise the horse will drop down to one of its front knees and Christeel will make a half bow to them. "May your travels be worth your while" Christeel will try to continue the conversation as long as the riders would like as waiting for Darrin if he decided to come up to the front. | (#)==|===Christeel=====> | Turn 11 cont. The strangers The group consists of three humans and two elves. The elves are both male and are sylvan or moon(silver elves are known as moon, in the Realms) elves. The lead human, who nudges her horse a little farther towards your group while the rest remain back a pace or two, is an older female in her fifties by her wizened features. Of the other two humans, both are male, one about the age of the leader and the other a teenager. Darrin, as urged has ridden forward to parley, and as he walks his horse towards the other group, Christeel is just making his opening comments, "Greetings travelers and How does you day go gentle- men, and ...lovely lady." He makes a clicking noise and his horse bows down before the strangers. The woman replies, wearing a friendly enough smile, "Good day, travellers. Nice trick, young man. Agrardon, at your service. Be you merchants?" The question seems innocent enough and lightly asked. Darrin does not hesitate to say, "Just a humble merchant's son out of Daggerford. We are heading to Waterdeep for the festival. How is the road ahead of us?" The woman wipes her long brown hair from her face and replies, "We have just come from Waterdeep. The road is well traveled with your fellow merchants. We have passed several caravans. Though all are a couple of days ahead of you. You should hurry on, or you won't get a good booth, young one." You all keep your eyes out and listen intently, but you see nothing and hear nothing untoward. Strangely, even the riders with Agrardon, don't move a muscle. Though whether this is good or bad, who can say. At least they haven't reached towards their weapons.
