I think, I changed my mind about making a second town really early
in the game.
However, this is a really risky strategy.
That just spreads out your troops thin, so it is much harder to defend
everything, especially at the beginning. This is what is known as the
"super long term win". If you are able to stay alive until your town
gets going, this can pay off big time. But if anyone comes in early,
like I like to do, then you are going to get screwed. You really only
want to try this when you have a teammate to help you. If you are able
to catch up to everyone else, technology wise, then you can really get
ahead of the other players. The key is to always make peasants at both
towns. Don't ever stop making peasants until the fighting begins. I
tried this and I ended up with more money and lumber then I could spend.
By the end of the game, I ended up with 48,000 in gold, in cash, waiting
to be spent, and 30,000 lumber. This is really risky to try. I
would not do this if you are by yourself. What made it work for me, is
I used my second peasant to go and build the hall. I was really screwed
for a while, anyone could have beat me. But once my second town was up
I got so far ahead of everyone. I was upgrading to fortress, when others
where still at town hall! Remember this is one of the riskiest things
you can do so use it with extreme caution. If the players like to
go in early and attack you are probably going to lose.
If you wait until you hit stronghold/Keep it is not as risky and I
recommend that you do it to survive and win.
