This site is dedicated to the Avalon Hill game called "Diplomacy",
and more specifically provides an additional resource for those who play
by Email.
Please note: The non-frames version of this site will not be updated. I suggest you download netscape navigator 2+ at www.netscape.com to gain the full effect of the frames version of The Emissary
You are megalomaniac number to
visit the Emissary.
"What is Diplomacy?", I hear you all shout. "Can I play?".
Of course you can! The judge system has been designed to allow people from
every corner of the world the chance to take part in playing one of the
greatest gaming sensations on Earth through their computer. If you want
to know more read this introduction
to Diplomacy.
To put it simply, using the judges is the easiest way of finding and
participating in Diplomacy using Email. Following is a list of judges.
If you want to find out which games are currently running or opening on
each judge then email them with LIST in the body of the message.
If you register with a judge or wish to register with a judge you will
need to know some information regarding how to register and how the game
is played by Email. You could Email a judge to get the full information
package (include GET PACKAGE in the subject field) or follow these links.
I have transfered the whole package onto this site to save you the hassle
of Emailing a judge:
Info Package |
Contains details of various orders that can be carried out through
the judge. |
Index Package |
Contains details of orders that both players and GMs can carry out. |
Syntax Package |
Demonstrates how orders for each season should be written. |
Deadlines Package |
Contains details on the deadline system and how to interpret/alter
deadlines. |
Rules Package |
Contains rules specific for play by Email. |
House Rules Package |
Contains the rules that must be followed if you wish to play on a judge. |
Press Package |
Describes the different types of press allowed on a judge and how to
use them. |
Although Diplomacy originally started of as the standard seven European
powers fighting for supremacy, the players of the game were not satisfied
and began producing variants on the game. Most variants used the same rules
as the standard game (with one or two specific tweaks) and the only thing
that was different was the maps. Now you can take control of Asian, African
and American powers or new European powers slogging it out on various maps.
If that doesn't get you interested try some of the variants were the rules
have been changed to allow for famines, bank loans etc, or become the leader
of a band of elves in a Lord of the Rings variant. The choices are endless,
you can even design
your own variant. I'll guarantee you'll never get bored!
For a comprehensive listing got to DipPouch
.
For every variant there is a map available somewhere on the internet.
Again, for a huge selection of maps go to Dip
Pouch
Are you having problems keeping up with your game/s? Try downloading
a mapper
programme.
I've dredged the web for a list of the best Diplomacy sites. These are
listed below.

Note: There is a huge list of 'zines primarily for "face to face"
and "postal" gaming available. I have omitted these as I have
attempted to give this site an Email bias, although a few have been included
above due to them having useful contents.
If any of these links are outdated please email me at diplomazia@geocities.com
Also, if you have any sites that you think should be included on the
list or articles that you would like me put on the site then Email me at
the above address.
