"If there are any depletion counters on Veldt, it does not untap during your untap phase. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a depletion counter from Veldt.

Ahh, the infamous depletion counter lands. Some people like them, others hate them. Along with the pain lands, these seem to be the closest to a dual land you'll ever see in print again...and that's OK by me. I love my dual lands, but they're too powerful for their own good. If you insist on playing multi-colored decks with lots of cards requiring more than one colored mana to cast, you might want to go for a few depeltion counter lands like Veldt. They are slow, but they don't hurt you. More often than not I do prefer pain lands, but if your deck has more than enough speed and needs versatility in mana production, go for it.
