"Psionic Blast does 4 damage to any target, but it does 2 damage to you as well."

Don't even think about that 2 damage thing. Psionic Blast is incredible. It's hefty blue direct damage at the speed of an instant. Anything else is kinda neglegable. Sure, you could worry about such silly things as preventing the Psionic Blast damage, but I'd be more worried about how to get this spell back to your hand so you can cast it again:
