"Oh, I'm a rambling idiot, rambling everywhere. I'm a rambling idiot...in my underwear." Brak

In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new Magic: The Gathering card every single day.

The Card of the Day is...

Necropolis

The Dark Uncommon

5 Artifact Creature

0/1
"Counts as a wall.
Remove a creature card in your graveyard from the game: Put X +0/+1 counters on Necropolis where X is that creature's casting cost."

Yup, you read that right. A 5 casting cost wall that starts out 0/1. Wow! That's really expensive! In fact, initially, Necropolis is the most inefficient creatue around. Is this another one of my "silly days" that I try to extoll the virtues of a complete dud? I don't quite feel so. As limited as Necropolis' uses are, this funky wall does have one "limitless" thing about it...it's toughness can be pumped up restricted only by the amount of creatures you can churn out of your graveyard. It really doesn't take much effort to make one huge old Necropolis late in a game. If you're facing opponent's that tries to make one or two enormous creatures and batter away, and you have to contend with them with creatures (Autumn Willows and the like), Necropolis should not be overlooked. Don't forget that Necropolis' ability is not only pumpable, but you can use it as soon as it's in play. Just don't cast the darn thing until you got an Island Fish or two in your graveyard. Any creature that can have either power/toughness grow outside the "normal" proportions of the game is worth taking a second look at...even a stinking 5 casting cost artifact 0/1 wall. Here are a few of my favorite combos with, the always surprising to see outside of a collector's binder, Necropolis :
Note from Chris...I'd trade someone something stupid for one of these..even a foreign one. I know it's generally considered stupid, but I think it's silly and could use an extra one.
